What this trial studies
This study investigates a novel approach to draining perianal abscesses using 3D ultrasonography instead of traditional surgical methods. The goal is to provide a more controlled drainage procedure that minimizes complications such as recurrences and the formation of chronic fistulas. Patients over 18 with a diagnosed perianal abscess will be informed about the study and, if eligible, will provide consent to participate. The study aims to assess the effectiveness of ultrasound-guided drainage in comparison to conventional techniques.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 who have a perianal abscess requiring surgical treatment.
Not a fit: Patients under 18 or those unable to understand the study information due to language barriers or cognitive impairments will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to fewer complications and improved healing for patients with perianal abscesses.
How similar studies have performed: This technique has not been widely tested in larger studies, making it a novel approach in this field.
