What this trial studies
This observational study aims to create a national registry for multiple myeloma in Italy to monitor current clinical practices and describe the standard of care across various hematology centers. It will collect data on patients diagnosed with active or symptomatic multiple myeloma since January 2019, focusing on treatment approaches and patient demographics. The registry will include both a standard epidemiological component and a patient-powered registry to enhance patient involvement and data collection.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older diagnosed with active or symptomatic multiple myeloma since January 2019.
Not a fit: Patients who do not have a diagnosis of multiple myeloma or those diagnosed before January 2019 may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this registry could improve understanding of treatment practices and outcomes for multiple myeloma patients in Italy, potentially leading to enhanced care standards.
How similar studies have performed: Other countries have successfully established national registries for multiple myeloma, indicating that this approach has been effective in similar contexts.
