What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates the effects of Myofascial Release Training on swallowing function and quality of life in elderly individuals aged 60 and above who experience dysphagia. Participants will engage in a structured training program over three weeks, with two sessions each weekday lasting 15-30 minutes. The study aims to determine whether this physical therapy technique can improve swallowing abilities and overall well-being in this population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are community-dwelling elderly individuals aged 60 and older who have dysphagia and are able to participate in the training.
Not a fit: Patients with severe liver or kidney failure, tumors, hematological disorders, or significant physical disabilities may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly enhance the quality of life for elderly individuals suffering from swallowing disorders.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific application of Myofascial Release Training for dysphagia in the elderly is novel, similar physical therapy approaches have shown promise in improving various functional outcomes in other populations.
