What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates the effectiveness of Myofascial Release Therapy in improving swallowing function among stroke survivors experiencing dysphagia. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a control group receiving standard rehabilitation treatment or an experimental group receiving Myofascial Release Therapy over a 21-day period. The study will evaluate outcomes using the Functional Oral Intake Scale, Penetration-Aspiration Scale, and Swallowing Quality of Life measures to determine the therapy's impact on swallowing abilities.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18 and older who have been diagnosed with stroke and exhibit any degree of dysphagia.
Not a fit: Patients with other neurological diseases, severe cognitive impairments, or those who cannot undergo Myofascial Release Therapy may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this therapy could significantly enhance the quality of life for stroke survivors by improving their swallowing function.
How similar studies have performed: While Myofascial Release Therapy is a recognized treatment modality, this specific application for dysphagia in stroke survivors is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
