What this trial studies

This study examines how music therapy can help alleviate anxiety, symptom distress, and promote relaxation in cancer patients undergoing MRI scans. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a control group receiving standard care or a music therapy group that includes music interventions. The study will collect both psychological ratings and physiological data, such as pulse and respiration rates, to evaluate the effectiveness of the music therapy protocol. Additionally, the relationship between patient engagement with the music and changes in their psychological states will be assessed.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are cancer patients aged 18-60 who can communicate in Mandarin, Cantonese, or English and experience anxiety during MRI scans.

Not a fit: Patients with severe psychiatric disorders, cognitive impairments, or those requiring other interventions to complete the MRI may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce anxiety and improve the overall experience of cancer patients during MRI scans.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that music therapy can effectively reduce anxiety in various medical settings, suggesting a positive outlook for this approach.
