What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates the effects of music therapy on psychological factors in hospitalized pregnant women facing high-risk pregnancies due to the threat of preterm birth. It aims to determine if music therapy can reduce anxiety, depression, and perceived stress while also fostering a stronger attachment bond between mother and child. Participants will be divided into groups receiving music therapy and those receiving standard care, allowing for a comparison of outcomes related to emotional well-being and attachment. The study addresses a significant public health issue, as preterm birth can lead to serious complications for both mothers and infants.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are pregnant women over 18 years old who are at risk of preterm birth and can communicate in Italian.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of psychiatric pathology or those unable to understand the Italian language may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could improve mental health outcomes for mothers and enhance the emotional bond with their infants.
How similar studies have performed: While music therapy has been explored in various contexts, this specific application in high-risk pregnancy is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
