What this trial studies
This study investigates the effectiveness of a tailored ecological momentary music intervention aimed at reducing stress reactions in Turkish immigrant women who experience chronic ethnic discrimination. Participants will be randomly assigned to either listen to self-selected relaxing music or to a control condition where they do not listen to music after experiencing stressful or discriminatory events in their daily lives. The study will measure both psychological stress and biological markers such as cortisol and alpha-amylase to assess the intervention's impact. The goal is to provide a feasible and effective strategy for mitigating the negative health effects of discrimination.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Turkish immigrant women aged 18-65 who have experienced chronic ethnic discrimination.
Not a fit: Patients who do not meet the language proficiency requirements or have significant medical conditions affecting stress responses may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly reduce stress levels and improve the overall well-being of Turkish immigrant women facing discrimination.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promise in using music interventions for stress reduction, suggesting potential success for this tailored approach.
