Muscle strength and sense of purpose (Ikigai) in people with coronary artery disease
Investigation of the Relationship Between Strengthening and Ikigai Levels of Individuals With Coronary Artery Disease
Kutahya Health Sciences University · NCT07040033

What this trial studies
This observational project at Kutahya Health Sciences University enrolls adults with a clinical diagnosis of stable coronary artery disease and no major communication or sensory disorders. Participants will have their physical strength measured and complete questionnaires about ikigai and life satisfaction; there is no experimental treatment. The study is grounded in the context of nurse-led cardiac rehabilitation and aims to identify patient-centered needs that support independent living. Results will be used to understand how strength and psychosocial well-being are related in this population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults (18+) with a clinical diagnosis of coronary artery disease in a stable phase who speak and understand Turkish and do not have major hearing, vision, or communication disorders are ideal candidates.
Not a fit: Patients who are intubated, have diagnosed mental illness or communication disorders, significant hearing or vision loss, non-Turkish speakers, or who are not in a stable phase of their disease may not benefit from participation.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If a clear link is found, the findings could help tailor rehabilitation and nursing support to improve patients' sense of purpose and overall quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: Related research shows that nurse-led education and psychosocial support can improve outcomes in cardiovascular disease, but specifically linking muscle strength to ikigai in CAD patients is relatively novel.
