Muscle energy technique for treating nonspecific low back pain

Comparative Effectiveness of Muscle Energy Technique on Iliotibial Band Versus Hamstring and Abdominal Muscles Activation in Patients With Nonspecific Low Back Pain

NA · Riphah International University · NCT06663644

What this trial studies

This clinical trial aims to compare the effects of muscle energy technique on the iliotibial band versus hamstring and abdominal muscle activation in patients suffering from nonspecific low back pain. The study involves 28 participants aged 18 to 40 years, who are randomly assigned to one of two groups for a duration of six months. Pain intensity and functional disability will be measured using the Numeric Pain Rating Scale and the Oswestry Disability Index. The goal is to determine which intervention is more effective in alleviating pain and improving function.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 18 to 40 years experiencing acute nonspecific low back pain.

Not a fit: Patients over the age of 40 or those with a history of significant spinal or pelvic issues may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a more effective treatment option for patients with nonspecific low back pain.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results with similar muscle energy techniques in managing low back pain, indicating potential for success in this approach.
