What this trial studies

This project investigates an intensive multi-family therapy (MFT) intervention designed for adolescents with anorexia nervosa and their families. The therapy is based on family-based treatment principles and aims to provide in vivo and virtual support to families, enhancing their understanding of eating disorders and equipping them with skills for meal support and emotional regulation. Participants will undergo assessments to evaluate the impact of the MFT on key outcomes such as weight, emotional expression, and eating disorder symptoms.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are English-speaking adolescents aged 11-18 with a diagnosis of restricting eating disorder who live at home with at least one parent or guardian.

Not a fit: Patients with active psychosis, current substance dependence, or a history of abuse may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve the treatment outcomes for adolescents with anorexia nervosa by enhancing family support.
