What this trial studies

This is a nationwide cross-sectional electronic survey of healthcare professionals using self‑questionnaires distributed via hospitals, professional societies, social networks, and snowball sampling. Participants will complete standardized instruments including the Moral Injury Inventory for Healthcare Professionals, the Moral Injury Events Scale, and measures of burnout, depression, anxiety, and organizational factors. The study will perform psychometric validation of a French moral injury scale, analyze individual and organizational determinants, and use structural modeling to explore underlying mechanisms. Data collection is self-reported and entirely remote, coordinated by the Centre Hospitalier Intercommunal de Toulon-La Seyne sur Mer.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Healthcare professionals working in France who consent to complete online self-questionnaires, including physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff.

Not a fit: People who are not healthcare workers, are not located in France, cannot complete online questionnaires, or are seeking immediate clinical treatment rather than survey participation are unlikely to benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this work could clarify how common moral injury is among French healthcare workers and point to organizational drivers that could be targeted to reduce burnout and staff turnover.

How similar studies have performed: Survey-based research on moral injury and burnout has identified associations in other settings, but a large-scale French validation of a moral injury instrument is largely novel.
