What this trial studies
This observational study aims to determine the molecular classification of endometrial cancer (EC) in Mexican women, focusing on the endometrioid subtype. By utilizing next-generation sequencing to detect specific mutations and immunohistochemical analysis for microsatellite instability, the study seeks to establish a more accurate prognosis for patients. The research will analyze samples collected from patients treated at the Instituto Nacional de Cancerología between 2015 and 2019, evaluating the impact of molecular classification on clinical outcomes and potential targeted therapies.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are women over 18 years old diagnosed with endometrioid-type endometrial cancer who have undergone surgery at the Instituto Nacional de Cancerología.
Not a fit: Patients with non-endometrioid type endometrial cancer or those with a history of malignancy within the last five years may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more personalized treatment strategies and improved prognostic accuracy for patients with endometrial cancer.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is novel in the context of Mexican patients, similar studies in other populations have shown promising results in using molecular classification for prognosis in endometrial cancer.
