Modified VISTA gum-covering using albumin-PRF versus connective tissue graft for multiple Miller Class III gum recessions

Clinical Evaluation of the Modified VISTA Technique (M-VISTA )Using Albumin-platelet Rich Fibrin (Alb-PRF) Versus Connective Tissue Graft (CTG)in the Treatment of Multiple Miler Class III RT2 Recessions A Randomized Clinical Trial

Phase2; Phase3 Interventional Cairo University · NCT06643507

This test tries to see whether a modified VISTA gum-covering technique using albumin-PRF works as well as the standard connective tissue graft for adults with multiple Miller Class III (RT2) gum recessions who have good oral hygiene.

What this trial studies

The study compares a modified VISTA surgical approach using albumin-derived platelet-rich fibrin (ALB-PRF) to the conventional connective tissue graft for treating multiple Miller Class III (RT2) gingival recessions. Adults with good oral hygiene and multiple RT2 recessions will receive the modified VISTA technique with one of the two graft materials and be followed for clinical root-coverage outcomes. Primary outcomes include percentage of root coverage and soft tissue thickness, while secondary outcomes include wound healing and donor-site morbidity. The trial is conducted at the Faculty of Dentistry, Cairo University under phase 2/3 protocols to compare safety and effectiveness.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults aged 18 or older with multiple Miller Class III (RT2) gingival recessions and good oral hygiene who are non-smokers.

Not a fit: Smokers, people with poor oral hygiene, or those with different types of recession (non-RT2/Miller III) are unlikely to benefit from this approach.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this could offer similar root coverage with less donor-site morbidity and a simpler graft material using albumin-PRF.

How similar studies have performed: Connective tissue grafting is the established gold standard for root coverage, while PRF-based approaches including albumin-PRF have shown promising but limited comparative data.
