What this trial studies

This research evaluates the effectiveness of a Mobile Perinatal Psychiatry Team (EMPPer) that provides psychiatric care to children aged 0 to 3 and their parents in their homes. The study aims to assess the impact of this intervention on the prevalence of psychomotor development abnormalities in children at age 2, comparing regions with and without the EMPPer. Additionally, it will evaluate the long-term effects on language development at age 4 and the implementation process of the EMPPer. The initiative addresses the needs of families facing psycho-social vulnerabilities and aims to improve access to mental health care.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include children aged 0 to 3 who are receiving intervention from the EMPPer and whose parents have consented to participate.

Not a fit: Children whose parents are visiting the region or do not speak French may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve the mental health and developmental outcomes of young children and their families.

How similar studies have performed: While similar mobile intervention teams have been deployed in other French cities, this specific evaluation of effectiveness is novel and has not been previously tested.
