What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate a mobile health application designed specifically for ethnically diverse Black men with prostate cancer, whether they are currently undergoing treatment or are survivors. The app will provide tailored information, symptom monitoring, and patient testimonials to empower users in their care. Participants will complete online surveys at the start and at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months, with a subset using the app for daily symptom tracking and weekly mood assessments. Feedback will be gathered through interviews at the end of the study to enhance the app's effectiveness.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are ethnically diverse Black men who are within the first five years of their prostate cancer survivorship journey.
Not a fit: Patients who are not Black, have never been diagnosed with prostate cancer, or do not own a smartphone will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this app could significantly improve the quality of life and engagement in care for Black prostate cancer survivors.
How similar studies have performed: While mobile health interventions have shown promise in various populations, this specific culturally tailored approach for Black prostate cancer survivors is relatively novel.
