What this trial studies
This study evaluates the feasibility and effectiveness of a mobile health application designed to enhance participation of Black women in breast cancer clinical trials. The app provides educational resources and information about available clinical trials within a 50-mile radius. A patient advisory council contributed to the app's development and will assist in analyzing data and disseminating results. The study will involve 80 African American women diagnosed with breast cancer who will use the app and complete a survey regarding their clinical trial knowledge and experiences.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are African American women aged 18 or older who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and have access to a mobile device or computer.
Not a fit: Patients who do not speak English or have cognitive impairments that prevent informed consent may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this initiative could significantly increase the participation of Black women in breast cancer clinical trials, leading to more inclusive research and better treatment options.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using mobile health applications to improve patient engagement and participation in clinical trials, indicating a potential for success with this approach.
