What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a mobile chat service that provides medical and non-medical information to parents of children visiting the pediatric emergency room. A total of 60 participants will be randomly assigned to either a treatment group, which receives comprehensive information, or a control group, which receives information only as needed. Both groups will communicate with researchers via the chat service and complete satisfaction questionnaires before leaving the emergency room. Additionally, nurses will record the number of questions received and provide feedback on their experiences with the service.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include parents of children aged 18 years and older whose triage scores indicate moderate urgency (KTAS 2, 3, or 4) and who have specific chief complaints such as fever or abdominal pain.
Not a fit: Parents of children with the most severe or least urgent conditions (KTAS 1 or 5) or those unable to use mobile phones may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance parental satisfaction during emergency room visits and potentially reduce the workload for medical staff.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using mobile chat services in emergency settings is relatively novel, similar studies in other healthcare contexts have shown promising results in improving patient satisfaction.
