What this trial studies

This observational study evaluates the outcomes of a novel technique called minimal scar mastectomy (MSM) for women with early-stage breast cancer who prefer not to undergo reconstruction. The approach aims to preserve the nipple areolar complex while avoiding the traditional transverse scar associated with modified radical mastectomy. This is the first investigation into the oncologic and surgical outcomes of MSM, focusing on its safety and cosmetic results.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are women with early-stage breast cancer (Stage 1-3) who have non-ptotic breasts and prefer nipple sparing mastectomy without reconstruction.

Not a fit: Patients who have undergone conventional mastectomy or those with ptotic breasts may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this technique could provide a less invasive surgical option with improved cosmetic outcomes for breast cancer patients.

How similar studies have performed: While this approach is novel, similar techniques in nipple sparing mastectomy have shown promising results in terms of safety and cosmetic outcomes.
