What this trial studies

This research aims to develop a new breathing feature on the meditation app Equa, targeting young adults experiencing psychological distress. Participants will engage in 14 guided mindfulness meditation sessions while their physiological responses, such as heart rate, are monitored using smartphone technology and a specialized shirt. The study will assess how these physiological changes correlate with improvements in mindfulness skills through pre- and post-session questionnaires. The goal is to create an algorithm that provides real-time feedback on participants' physiological states during meditation.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are young adults aged 18-30 who are experiencing psychological distress and are interested in mindfulness meditation.

Not a fit: Patients who are currently pregnant or have a diagnosis of psychosis or schizophrenia may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance mindfulness practices by providing personalized feedback to help young adults manage psychological distress more effectively.

How similar studies have performed: While the integration of physiological feedback in mindfulness practices is an emerging field, similar studies have shown promise in enhancing meditation experiences.
