What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates the impact of a preoperative mindfulness intervention on postoperative pain and recovery in women undergoing minimally invasive hysterectomy. Participants will use the Headspace™ application for mindfulness meditation before their surgery. The primary focus is to measure pain scores on the first postoperative day, while secondary outcomes include quality of recovery and stress levels assessed on postoperative days 1 and 7. The study aims to determine if mindfulness can effectively reduce pain and improve recovery outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are women who are scheduled for a minimally invasive hysterectomy and can access the Headspace application.
Not a fit: Patients who are minors or unable to access the Headspace app may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce postoperative pain and enhance recovery for patients undergoing minimally invasive hysterectomy.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with mindfulness interventions in surgical settings, suggesting potential success for this approach.
