What this trial studies

This study investigates the impact of a mindfulness-based psychoeducation program on individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia, focusing on reducing internalized stigma and promoting healthy lifestyle behaviors. The program will be administered individually to patients registered at the Kastamonu Community Mental Health Centre over a six-week period. Participants will be assessed before and after the intervention using various scales to measure stigma and lifestyle changes. The study employs a pre-test-post-test design with control and experimental groups to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia who are registered and actively participating in treatment at the Community Mental Health Centre.

Not a fit: Patients who have not been diagnosed with schizophrenia or those unwilling to participate in the study will not benefit.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve the quality of life and self-perception of patients with schizophrenia.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been interventional studies on stigma in schizophrenia, this specific approach combining mindfulness and psychoeducation is novel.
