What this trial studies

This intervention combines mindfulness-based techniques with light physical activity to help reduce chronic pain. Participants will engage in mindful walking sessions, focusing on bodily sensations and mindfulness principles over six weeks. Each session lasts about 60 minutes and is conducted outdoors, led by a certified instructor. The aim is to teach participants how to acknowledge their thoughts and feelings without judgment while concentrating on the present moment during walking.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older residing in Oconee and Pickens County with mild to severe chronic pain.

Not a fit: Patients currently practicing mindfulness or those without chronic pain will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could provide a non-pharmacological approach to managing chronic pain, improving patients' quality of life.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that mindfulness-based interventions and light physical activity can effectively reduce chronic pain, suggesting this approach may also be beneficial.
