What this trial studies
The MenTOras program pairs newly graduated occupational therapists in Aragón with experienced mentors for a three-month, structured mentorship that includes at least six sessions delivered online or in person. This prospective, mixed-methods, quasi-experimental pilot will recruit about 20 mentor-mentee pairs from COPTOA and collects quantitative measures before the program, after completion, and at six months alongside qualitative data. Mentees must have graduated within the past two years and mentors must be actively practicing with at least five years' experience; mentors receive orientation and ongoing support from the research team. The study uses a successive cohort design without a randomized control group to examine feasibility, acceptability, and changes in professional integration, confidence, and emotional well‑being.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal participants are COPTOA members in Aragón: occupational therapists who graduated within the past two years as mentees, and actively practicing mentors with at least five years' experience.
Not a fit: Therapists who are not COPTOA members, graduated more than two years ago, are not actively practicing, or are already enrolled in another mentorship program may not benefit or be eligible.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, MenTOras could speed professional integration, increase confidence and emotional well‑being, and improve early-career retention among new occupational therapists.
How similar studies have performed: International studies in health professions generally show mentorship improves professional integration, well‑being, and retention, but formal, evaluated mentorship programs for occupational therapists in Spain are scarce and this pilot is novel locally.
