Measuring the properties of lung secretions in patients with obstructive pulmonary disease

VLM-2: Measurement of Viscoelastic Properties of Bronchopulmonary Secretions.

Not applicable Interventional Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc- Université Catholique de Louvain · NCT03888300

What this trial studies

This experimental study aims to compare the viscoelastic properties of bronchial secretions in patients with obstructive pulmonary disease. It will also assess changes in these properties before and after the application of respiratory physiotherapy or exercise. Sputum samples will be collected from participants using standard clinical methods, and the analysis will take place at the Saint-Luc University Clinic in Brussels.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals diagnosed with obstructive pulmonary disease.

Not a fit: Patients without obstructive pulmonary disease may not receive any benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved treatment strategies for patients with obstructive pulmonary disease by enhancing understanding of bronchial secretions.

How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored bronchial secretions, this specific approach to measuring viscoelastic properties is relatively novel.
