Measuring normal nerve sizes in healthy children
Ultrasonographic Reference Values for Peripheral Nerves and Nerve Roots in the Normal Population of Children and Adolescents

What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to establish reference values for the cross-sectional area of various peripheral nerves and nerve roots in children and adolescents aged 2 to 18 years. It involves a single-center, prospective approach where participants will undergo ultrasonographic examinations to assess the median, ulnar, radial, peroneal, tibial, sural, and vagus nerves, as well as cervical roots C5, C6, and C7. The data collected will help create standard values for these nerves in a healthy pediatric population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are healthy children and adolescents aged 2 to 18 years.
Not a fit: Patients with neuromuscular diseases or symptoms will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide essential reference values that improve the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral nerve conditions in children.
How similar studies have performed: While there may be studies on nerve measurements, this specific focus on pediatric reference values is relatively novel.
