Measuring Janus Kinase Levels in Patients with Cholinergic Urticaria
Assessment of Serum Levels of Janus Kinase 1 and 2 in Patients With Cholinergic Urticaria
This study is trying to see if levels of certain proteins in the blood are different in people with Cholinergic Urticaria compared to healthy individuals to better understand what causes their itchy skin reactions.

What this trial studies
This study aims to assess the serum levels of Janus Kinase 1 and 2 in patients diagnosed with Cholinergic Urticaria (CholU), a condition characterized by itchy wheals triggered by increased body temperature. The research will involve 45 adult patients suffering from CholU and 45 healthy controls to compare the serum levels of these kinases. The study focuses on understanding the role of the JAK-STAT signaling pathway in mast cell activation and its implications for CholU symptoms. By analyzing these serum levels, the study seeks to provide insights into the underlying mechanisms of this condition.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults diagnosed with Cholinergic Urticaria.
Not a fit: Patients with systemic diseases, autoimmune disorders, or those on certain medications may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to better understanding and management of Cholinergic Urticaria, potentially improving treatment options for patients.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of measuring Janus Kinase levels in CholU is novel, similar studies have shown the importance of the JAK-STAT pathway in other allergic conditions.
