What this trial studies
This observational study aims to evaluate the elbow joint position sense in healthy individuals by comparing measurements taken in both open and closed kinetic chain scenarios. Participants will undergo non-invasive assessments using a universal goniometer to measure their joint position sense at specific elbow flexion angles. Each measurement will be repeated multiple times to ensure accuracy, and evaluations will be conducted by two independent assessors. The study will also involve a follow-up measurement after three days to assess consistency.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are healthy individuals aged 18-25 who consent to participate.
Not a fit: Patients with recent upper extremity surgeries or those with neurological, orthopedic, rheumatic, or cardiovascular issues may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance our understanding of proprioception, potentially leading to improved rehabilitation strategies for joint-related conditions.
How similar studies have performed: While this study focuses on a specific aspect of proprioception, similar studies have shown that understanding joint position sense can lead to advancements in rehabilitation techniques.
