McKenzie exercises versus Mulligan mobilization for text neck
Comparative Effects of McKenzie Exercises vs. Mulligan Mobilization on Pain, Craniovertebral Angle, Functional Disability in Text Neck Syndrome
This trial will test whether McKenzie exercises or Mulligan mobilization, each added to conventional physical therapy, better reduces pain and improves posture in adults with text neck.

What this trial studies
This interventional study at the University of Lahore will compare two physical therapy approaches—McKenzie exercises plus conventional PT versus Mulligan mobilization plus conventional PT—for adults with text neck syndrome. Eligible participants are 20–45 years old, report at least three hours of daily smartphone use and a craniovertebral angle below 53, and must not have major cervical pathology, inflammatory disease, neurological or cardiovascular conditions, or pregnancy. Participants receive the assigned intervention over a defined treatment period with baseline and follow-up measures of neck pain, function, and posture. The trial aims to generate comparative effectiveness data to inform evidence-based management of text neck.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults aged 20–45 who use smartphones at least three hours daily, have used electronic devices for more than one year, and show a craniovertebral angle under 53, without cervical injury or major medical exclusions, are ideal candidates.
Not a fit: People with cervical spine injuries, inflammatory diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, neurological or cardiovascular conditions, pregnant individuals, or those outside the specified age or smartphone-use criteria are unlikely to benefit from participating.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the results could point clinicians to the more effective manual/exercise approach for reducing pain and correcting posture in people with text neck.
How similar studies have performed: Previous individual studies have reported benefits from both McKenzie exercises and Mulligan mobilization for mechanical neck pain, but direct head-to-head comparisons in text neck syndrome are limited.
