Mapping tumor heterogeneity in VHL-related kidney cancer
Overtaking Intra and Inter Tumoral Heterogeneity In Von Hippel-Lindau Related Renal Cancer

What this trial studies
This study aims to comprehensively map the intra and inter tumor heterogeneity of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) in patients with Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) syndrome. It will utilize a combination of imaging techniques, histological analysis, and molecular profiling from multi-regional biopsies to decode the complexities of VHL-ccRCC. The study will also develop patient-derived organoids to test anti-tumor agents, enhancing diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for VHL patients. By integrating these methodologies, the research seeks to improve the understanding and treatment of ccRCC in the context of VHL syndrome.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients with VHL syndrome who have at least three kidney tumors larger than 3 cm that are to be surgically removed.
Not a fit: Patients without VHL syndrome or those with fewer than three kidney tumors may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnostic tests and personalized treatment options for patients with VHL-related renal cancer.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in mapping tumor heterogeneity using similar multi-omics approaches, suggesting potential for impactful findings in this area.
