What this trial studies

This study investigates a novel technique called Nonlinear Elasticity Mapping (NEM) to assess the elasticity of breast masses through ultrasound imaging. By measuring both linear and nonlinear elasticity parameters, the study aims to differentiate between benign and malignant breast masses. The method involves applying varying levels of compression to the breast tissue and analyzing the resulting data to create a detailed map of tissue elasticity. The goal is to validate this technique in a larger patient population to enhance breast cancer diagnosis and management.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals with findings on their clinical breast ultrasound who have not undergone mastectomy or have breast implants.

Not a fit: Patients who have a history of mastectomy or breast implants, or those with conditions that prevent proper imaging, will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this technique could significantly improve the accuracy of breast cancer diagnosis and reduce unnecessary biopsies.

How similar studies have performed: Previous pilot studies have shown promise for this approach, but this study aims to expand the findings to a larger population for more definitive results.
