What this trial studies
The Memory in Psychiatry project (PAPSY) aims to assess the distribution and severity of cognitive impairment among patients in outpatient psychiatric offices across the Czech Republic. A total of 1000 patients will undergo cognitive tests and psychometric evaluations to determine their functional state and depressive symptoms. Caretakers may also provide insights into the participants' autonomy and behavioral impairments. The study seeks to identify previously undiagnosed cognitive impairments and analyze the distribution of cognitive issues among various diagnostic groups.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 45 and older with a psychiatric diagnosis and at least six months of treatment in an outpatient setting.
Not a fit: Patients with mental retardation or significant sensory impairments may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to better identification and management of cognitive impairments in psychiatric patients.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is observational, similar studies have successfully identified cognitive impairments in psychiatric populations, suggesting potential for meaningful findings.
