What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of a manual therapy protocol on motor and non-motor symptoms in patients with Parkinson's disease. Participants will receive up to two sessions of manual therapy each week for a minimum of six weeks, alongside their ongoing treatment. Measurements related to gait, balance, and other symptoms will be taken before and after the intervention to assess its impact. The goal is to explore potential treatment models that incorporate manual therapy into physiotherapy for Parkinson's disease.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 40 to 75 who have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and are willing to participate.
Not a fit: Patients with dementia or significant cognitive impairment, as indicated by a MoCA score of less than 25, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance the management of Parkinson's disease symptoms and improve patients' quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: While manual therapy has been explored in various contexts, this specific approach in Parkinson's disease is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
