What this trial studies

This study investigates the effects of manual diaphragmatic activation on diaphragm function in patients suffering from gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). A total of thirty patients, aged 20 to 50, with a body mass index between 20 and 34.9 kg/m² and low levels of physical therapy, will be enrolled and divided into study and control groups. The intervention involves manual activation techniques aimed at enhancing diaphragm function, which may alleviate GERD symptoms. The study is conducted at the Faculty of Physical Therapy in Giza.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 20 to 50 with gastroesophageal reflux disease and a specific body mass index.

Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant, have open wounds, or have undergone abdominal or spinal surgery may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could improve diaphragm function and reduce symptoms in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of manual diaphragmatic activation is less commonly studied, similar interventions have shown promise in improving respiratory function in other conditions.
