What this trial studies
HyperEcho is a multi-centre observational study aimed at improving the management of hypertension in young adults aged 18 to 40 years. The study investigates whether baseline transthoracic echocardiography, combined with routine clinical data, can enhance risk stratification for cardiovascular disease. Participants will undergo a research echocardiography scan during their routine hypertension clinic visits, and their clinical data will be utilized to inform better management strategies. The study is designed to ensure that participation does not interfere with the clinical care of the participants.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are young adults aged 18 to 40 years who have been referred to a hypertension clinic in England.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable or unwilling to provide valid consent for participation will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to more personalized and effective management of hypertension in young adults, potentially reducing cardiovascular risks.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar studies have shown promise in using echocardiography for cardiovascular risk assessment, suggesting potential for success.
