What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a comprehensive intervention strategy for managing hypertension in Nepal, where a significant portion of the population is affected. The intervention includes personalized counseling on lifestyle modifications and medication adherence, targeting individuals with high blood pressure. By measuring the net change in mean systolic blood pressure over a follow-up period of 7 to 8 months, the study seeks to determine the feasibility and appropriateness of this approach in a low-income setting. The trial addresses the critical need for improved hypertension control in a country where many individuals are unaware of their condition.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults diagnosed with hypertension who are living in the area served by the participating health facilities.
Not a fit: Patients who are critically ill, pregnant, or unable to provide informed consent will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly improve hypertension management and control rates among patients in Nepal.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with comprehensive hypertension management approaches in high-income countries, but this is a novel application in a low-income setting like Nepal.
