What this trial studies

This study aims to assess the effectiveness of an Awareness-Based Coping with Fear of Cancer Programme for women undergoing colposcopy due to abnormal cervical cytology results. It focuses on addressing the psychological impact of cancer fear, which can affect patients' psychosocial health. Participants will engage in a six-session program designed to enhance their awareness and coping strategies related to cancer fears. The study will evaluate changes in cancer fear levels and overall awareness among participants.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are women scheduled for colposcopy due to high-grade or low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions or HPV-positive results.

Not a fit: Patients with major depressive disorders, psychiatric disorders, or those who have previously participated in mindfulness-based stress reduction training may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly reduce cancer-related anxiety and improve the emotional well-being of women undergoing colposcopy.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach may be novel, mindfulness and awareness-based interventions have shown promise in reducing anxiety in similar patient populations.
