What this trial studies
This observational study consists of two phases aimed at understanding the experiences of young men who have sex with men (YMSM) involved in chemsex. Phase I is a cross-sectional descriptive study that utilizes mixed methods, primarily focusing on qualitative data collection to gather insights necessary for developing a larger follow-up study. Phase II will be a prospective cohort study that includes quantitative data collection, assessing various health aspects, sexually transmitted infections, and integration into care. The findings from Phase I will inform the design and implementation of Phase II.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are young men aged 16-35 who currently engage in chemsex or have discontinued use for at least 90 days.
Not a fit: Patients who do not identify as men who have sex with men or are outside the age range of 16-35 may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding and support for YMSM involved in chemsex, leading to improved health interventions.
How similar studies have performed: While there may be studies focusing on chemsex, this specific longitudinal approach targeting YMSM is relatively novel.
