What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates the impact of long-term moderate intensity physical activity on the cardiovascular systems of both mothers and their fetuses during pregnancy. Pregnant women in their first trimester will be randomly assigned to either a study group that engages in regular exercise or a control group. The study aims to assess various health outcomes, including gestational weight gain, incidence of gestational diabetes, and overall cardiovascular health. The findings could provide valuable insights into the benefits of physical activity during pregnancy.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are pregnant women in their first trimester who have had their routine dating scan.
Not a fit: Patients with diabetes, high BMI, or other significant health issues that contraindicate physical activity during pregnancy may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved cardiovascular health for both mothers and their babies during pregnancy.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive outcomes related to physical activity during pregnancy, suggesting that this approach may be beneficial.
