What this trial studies
This observational study is a 5-year follow-up of the KeySteps Phase One Study, which aimed to address disparities between privileged and underprivileged children. It will assess the long-term effects of early childhood interventions on children's health, psychosocial conditions, and academic performance as they progress through primary school. Data will be collected from the original cohort, including health assessments and tracking of medical events through the healthcare system. The study aims to understand how socioeconomic factors influence child development over time.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are children and their families who participated in the KeySteps Phase One Study and are currently enrolled in primary schools in Hong Kong.
Not a fit: Patients who may not benefit include those who withdrew from the original study, do not understand Chinese, or are not attending primary schools in Hong Kong.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into effective interventions that improve health and educational outcomes for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in similar approaches, indicating that early childhood interventions can have lasting positive effects on child development.
