What this trial studies

This study investigates the effects of at-home photobiomodulation (light therapy) combined with exercise on motor and non-motor symptoms in individuals with moderate Parkinson's disease. Participants will be divided into two groups: one receiving active light therapy and the other receiving a placebo treatment. Each group will consist of 30 participants aged 55-80, and their symptoms will be assessed at the beginning and after four weeks of treatment. The study aims to determine if the combination of light therapy and exercise can significantly improve quality of life and symptom management in Parkinson's patients.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 55-80 with moderate Parkinson's disease who have been participating in an exercise program prior to enrollment.

Not a fit: Patients with severe cognitive impairment, unstable medical conditions, or those who have previously undergone photobiomodulation treatment may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance the management of Parkinson's disease symptoms and improve the quality of life for patients.

How similar studies have performed: Similar approaches using photobiomodulation have shown promise in treating other neurological conditions, suggesting potential for success in this novel application for Parkinson's disease.
