What this trial studies
This intervention evaluates the effectiveness of life coaching on the well-being and distress levels of physicians in Canada, addressing the prevalent issue of burnout in the medical profession. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a life coaching group, which includes an initial one-hour session followed by five 30-minute sessions, or a control group with no coaching. The study aims to assess how life coaching can help physicians manage stress, regain control, and enhance their overall quality of life. The focus is on maximizing personal strengths and skills to combat the negative impacts of burnout.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are registered staff physicians, residents, or fellows currently practicing in Canada.
Not a fit: Patients who have received life coaching in the last five years or are currently undergoing psychotherapy may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve the mental health and job satisfaction of physicians, leading to better patient care.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using life coaching for physician well-being is relatively novel, similar interventions targeting burnout in healthcare professionals have shown promising results.
