What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of laser acupuncture combined with pranayama exercises on inflammation in elderly patients suffering from allergic rhinitis. Sixty participants will be randomly assigned to two groups: one receiving laser stimulation at specific acupoints along with daily pranayama exercises, and the other receiving only laser stimulation. The treatment will last for eight weeks, with sessions occurring three times a week. The aim is to reduce symptoms and improve the quality of life for geriatric patients with this common condition.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are elderly individuals diagnosed with allergic rhinitis.
Not a fit: Patients with chest or heart diseases, local congenital nose deformities, or those who have recently undergone complementary therapies may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly alleviate symptoms of allergic rhinitis in elderly patients, enhancing their overall quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results with acupuncture and pranayama exercises in improving symptoms of allergic rhinitis, suggesting potential success for this approach.
