Kinesio taping for improving lung function in stroke patients with hemiplegia
Effects of Thoracic Kinesio Taping on Pulmonary Functions, Respiratory Muscle Strength and Functional Capacity in Patients With Hemiplegia

What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of thoracic kinesio taping on pulmonary function and overall physical ability in stroke patients suffering from hemiplegia. A randomized controlled trial will involve 30 participants aged 45 to 80, who will be assigned to either a kinesio taping group or a sham taping group for four weeks. The study aims to measure improvements in respiratory muscle strength and lung function through various pulmonary tests before and after the intervention. The goal is to determine if kinesio taping can enhance recovery and quality of life for these patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are stroke patients aged 45-80 with hemiplegia diagnosed within the last six months.
Not a fit: Patients with other neurological or orthopedic issues, severe heart diseases, or skin sensitivities to kinesio tape may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve respiratory function and overall physical ability in stroke patients with hemiplegia.
How similar studies have performed: While kinesio taping has been explored in various contexts, this specific application for hemiplegic stroke patients is relatively novel.
