Investigation of blood mutations in elderly lymphoma patients

Chemotherapy-induced Genomic Damage in Elderly Patients With Lymphoma: Prevalence, Evolution, and Clinical Consequences

Observational Rigshospitalet, Denmark · NCT05245487

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to investigate blood mutations in elderly patients diagnosed with B-cell Non-Hodgkin lymphoma who require systemic treatment. It focuses on patients aged 60 and older, examining the impact of chemotherapy on blood cell mutations and the associated risks of treatment side effects and mortality. Blood samples will be collected at various stages of treatment, and quality of life questionnaires will be administered electronically. The study seeks to identify which patients may benefit from traditional chemotherapy versus novel therapies with fewer side effects.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are elderly patients aged 60 and older with a diagnosis of B-cell Non-Hodgkin lymphoma requiring second-line or higher systemic treatment.

Not a fit: Patients who are unable to provide written consent or are non-Danish citizens will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help tailor lymphoma treatments to minimize toxicity and improve outcomes for elderly patients.

How similar studies have performed: While studies have examined blood mutations in younger patients, this investigation into elderly populations is novel and has not been extensively tested.
