What this trial studies

This study aims to evaluate the impact of treating cartilage lesions at the first metatarsophalangeal joint during corrective surgery for hallux valgus. It involves a randomized approach where patients are divided into two groups: one group will not receive treatment for cartilage lesions, while the other group will have their lesions treated through debridement and microfracture. The severity of cartilage lesions will be assessed using the ICRS scale and MS Hololens technology. Participants will complete questionnaires to assess their clinical outcomes pre- and post-surgery.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 30 to 60 years who are scheduled for hallux valgus surgery.

Not a fit: Patients with additional pathologies other than hallux valgus or those outside the age range may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into the optimal management of cartilage lesions during hallux valgus surgery, potentially improving patient outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited literature on this specific approach, the study aims to fill a gap in understanding the treatment of cartilage lesions in this context, indicating a novel investigation.
