Investigating the Role of NLRP6 in Chronic Periodontitis
Evaluation of Serum NLRP6 in Chronic Periodontitis Patients
This study is trying to see if the NLRP6 gene levels in blood can help us understand the severity of chronic periodontitis in adults aged 25 and older compared to healthy individuals.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to analyze the expression levels of the NLRP6 gene in blood samples from individuals diagnosed with chronic periodontitis, while also collecting demographic and periodontal data. Participants will include non-smoking adults aged 25 and older with varying stages of periodontitis, as well as healthy controls. The study will utilize RT-PCR to quantify NLRP6 levels and assess correlations with disease severity and other health parameters. By comparing these levels between the chronic periodontitis group and healthy controls, the research seeks to uncover potential links between NLRP6 expression and periodontal health.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are non-smoking adults aged 25 and older with a clinical diagnosis of chronic periodontitis and at least 15 teeth.
Not a fit: Patients with systemic disorders affecting periodontal health, recent periodontal treatment, or those who smoke may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying chronic periodontitis and lead to improved diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
How similar studies have performed: While studies on NLRP6 in other contexts exist, this specific investigation into its role in chronic periodontitis is relatively novel.
