Investigating the role of extracellular DNA in gastric cancer development
The Role of Extracellular DNA (ecDNA) in the Occurrence and Development of Gastric Cancer: an Exploratory Multicenter Prospective Observational Clinical Study
This study is trying to see how changes in a type of DNA found outside of cells might affect the development of gastric cancer in patients with precancerous lesions.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the significance of extracellular DNA (ecDNA) in the occurrence and progression of gastric cancer. By conducting gastroscopy biopsies on patients with precancerous lesions, the study will monitor changes in ecDNA expression in the gastric mucosa over time. The goal is to understand how these changes relate to gastric cancer development and to potentially guide future treatment strategies. The study involves collaboration among multiple endoscopic centers to ensure a comprehensive approach to data collection and analysis.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18-80 who are undergoing gastroscopy for gastric precancerous lesions or gastric adenocarcinoma.
Not a fit: Patients with other malignant tumors of the stomach or those who do not consent to the use of their specimens for research may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved early detection and treatment strategies for gastric cancer.
How similar studies have performed: While the role of ecDNA in cancer is a growing area of interest, this specific approach to studying its impact on gastric cancer is relatively novel.
