Investigating the role of CXCL2 and CXCL8 in intervertebral disc degeneration
Study on the Correlation Between CXCL2/CXCL8 and the Degree of Intervertebral Disc Degeneration and Radiological Progress
This study is trying to see how two specific proteins are linked to intervertebral disc degeneration in younger people to help improve treatments for low back pain.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the relationship between specific cytokines, CXCL2 and CXCL8, and intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD), a condition that significantly contributes to low back pain. The study will assess various factors that may influence IDD, including age, mechanical load, obesity, and genetics, particularly focusing on younger populations under 30 years old. By understanding the multifactorial nature of IDD, the research seeks to improve patient stratification and inform personalized treatment approaches for low back pain. Participants will be evaluated based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria to ensure the integrity of the findings.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals diagnosed with lumbar disc degeneration who have not undergone previous spinal surgery.
Not a fit: Patients with spinal tumors, infections, or other serious conditions such as osteoporosis or Parkinson's syndrome may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to better understanding and management of low back pain through targeted therapies for intervertebral disc degeneration.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific role of CXCL2 and CXCL8 in IDD is not extensively studied, related research on cytokines in degenerative conditions suggests potential for meaningful insights.
