Investigating the link between hypertensive crises and atmospheric pressure changes
HYPERTENSIVE CRISIS AND ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE RELATIONSHIP: A PROSPECTIVE STUDY
This study is trying to see if changes in weather pressure can trigger high blood pressure crises in people who have severe hypertension but no organ damage.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the relationship between the onset of hypertensive crises and fluctuations in atmospheric pressure among patients presenting to the emergency department. It focuses on individuals with severe hypertension (systolic ≥180 and/or diastolic ≥110 mmHg) but without end-organ damage. The study will analyze data from various regions to identify patterns and correlations between atmospheric conditions and the incidence of hypertensive crises. By understanding these relationships, the study seeks to provide insights into potential environmental triggers for hypertension.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and above who are experiencing a hypertensive crisis without end-organ damage.
Not a fit: Patients presenting with hypertensive emergencies that involve end-organ damage or those who have traveled recently may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help identify environmental factors that contribute to hypertensive crises, leading to better prevention strategies for patients.
How similar studies have performed: While there is existing literature on the effects of atmospheric pressure on blood pressure, this specific investigation into the relationship with hypertensive crises is novel and has not been extensively tested.
