What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to explore the short- and long-term effects of skin-to-skin contact between mothers and their healthy term infants. It is a prospective, single-blind, randomized controlled trial conducted at Korea University Anam Hospital. The study will provide education on skin-to-skin contact and assess its impact on neurodevelopmental outcomes, thereby promoting family-centered care in South Korea.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are healthy term infants born at Korea University Anam Hospital with a birth weight of 2,500g or more.
Not a fit: Patients who may not benefit from this study include preterm infants, low birth weight infants, and mothers under 20 years of age.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the understanding of the benefits of mother-infant skin contact, potentially improving neurodevelopmental outcomes for infants.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown positive outcomes related to skin-to-skin contact, indicating that this approach is supported by existing evidence.
